Day 9 Anniversary Trip Disembark, Leaning tower of Pisa, and Cinque Terre, Italy

Day 9 Disembark from our cruise 😭.
We had an amazing time on our cruise to Italy, Spain, and France.
Jeremy is a little giddy as he is in his old stomping ground from his mission. Our first stop of the day was The Leaning Tower of Pisa. I didn’t realize the Leaning Tower of Pisa was a complex of buildings. They had the cathedral and baptistery right by the tower.
We tried to check into our hotel and we couldn’t get into the building. Thank Heavens Jeremy speaks Italian he was able to call the hotel and the Lady said she needed 20 minutes before she could check us in. So off we went to explore La Spezia.
After checking into our hotel we headed to our second destination Cinque Terre. Jeremy helped us navigate the train station and purchase tickets.
I think we saved the best for last. Cinque Terre is breathtaking. The century old villages, surrounded by the ocean are just beautiful! Cinque Terre is made up of five Villages, the furthest being Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. In 1999 Cinque Terre became a National Park. There are only 4,000 residence that live in these five villages combined.
We got to explore 3/5 villages. We tried to walk the Via di Amore to go from Manarola to Riomaggiore so we could experience the walk along the cliffs. When we got about 100 meters past the train station, we found a locked gate with a notice that said we could not proceed to walk to the next village because of fallen rocks. (They couldn’t tell us this earlier?) Boo! We had to turn around and walk back to the train.😭
We enjoyed spending the day exploring. Rachel, Les, and Jeremy walked on the rock reef to get in front of the Riomaggiore village. They were rock stars. I just found a rock to sit on and enjoy the view. My whole body hurts after this amazing trip!
We took the train back to La Spezia and got to eat at a restaurant Jeremy ate at while serving his mission. Super cool!
Well this is the last post of our amazing 20 year anniversary trip. We drive Home tomorrow, can’t wait to see our kids. Eeekkkk
I love you Jeremy Bastian! Thank you for an amazing trip to celebrate 20 years of Love. I can’t wait to continue our adventure for the next 50 years! 😘❤️
