July 10th we (or Tina) decided we as a family were going to only eat a "whole foods" diet. What is a whole foods diet? The Webster dictionary definition- Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined,
or processed and refined as little as possible, before being consumed.
Whole foods typically do not contain added ingredients.
Now let me tell you we are only about 80% whole foods. (As of now) We (or Jeremy) has somethings he would like to keep. Aka chocolate chips, Ketchup, Jello etc. Baby steps. We did however get rid of about 4 boxes of food. Crazy!!! We had little to no sugar. It's definitely harder than I originally thought it would be. It's crazy how much sugar we really eat. I mean just in our peanut butter, or muffins. Even though I made muffins from scratch I still added sugar. Well, now I just use the fruit to sweeten the muffins. It's crazy. The peanut butter tastes so different. We have a lot to get use to. I have always cooked from scratch, but now I am taking it to another level. I virtually make everything from scratch now. Bread, tortilla's, Jams, Granola, Yogurt, Snacks, Smoothies, Popsicle, treats, Nut butters etc. When we buy items we try to get items with no more then 5 ingredients. It doesn't always work but we try :-)

sooooo much. It really helps me with this new lifestyle. It helps make

Probably my favorite website so far is
http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/
Lisa Leake is my new "Hero". She not only took this challenge to feed her family for 100 days on nothing but "Whole Foods" but she has a lot of wonderful tried and true recipes. I have already made 20% of her recipes. YUMMY!!!! Reading Lisa's Blog really got me on the whole foods Band Wagon. Thanks so much Lisa.
Lisa, listed a couple books she has read and loved. I checked them all out at the Library.
My all time favorite so far is Food Rules by Michael Pollan.

I read it first, then Jeremy, then each of the kids. It's a super
easy read and really helped explain why I decided our family need to go
to a whole foods diet. I love how Michael set up the book. It has 36 rules and 1-2 paragraphs explaining
those rules. Awesome!!!
Another one of my favorite websites is found Here " The Marathon Mom." Brandy, is the mother to 8 boys. We have tried a lot of her recipes. YUMMY!!! They are super easy and packed with lots of good things for our bodies and they are all really good. We are finding some new family favorites that we keep stocked and in our freezer.

My friend Stephanie Pyne. You might remember her? She was one of my best-est friends from Georgia. She started her family on whole foods a couple months ago. Well, when I was talking to her, she told me about Robyn Openshaw. Aka Green smoothie girl. Her website is
http://greensmoothiegirl.com/
I have not read Robyn's book 12 steps to a whole foods diet. I want to though. (Our library doesn't have it. :-( I did however read her Green Smoothies Diet.

One of my very favorite books is Skinny Chicks eat real food kick your fake food habit, kickstart your weight loss. Out of all the books I have read this one makes the most sense several times I was like that makes a lot of sense. Just the way she put it. I have heard a lot of this stuff before but Christine really puts it in a way I can understand. I really enjoyed reading this book. I also put it on my wish list to buy. I would like to read it a couple more times. It's that good. It also has some really yummy recipes.
