Day 7 Valencia Spain we had to set the alarm and be up at 6:45 to get ready for our San Jose caves excursion.
We had a light breakfast and proceeded to the meeting point for our excursion.
It was a huge group our bus was half German and half English. It felt like we were home. We took a 30 minute ride to the caves. Our tour guide was not very friendly she was kind of mean. We were not allowed to talk, laugh or make noise on the bus. Ugghhh Tina struggled with this concept.
😂
Some fun facts about Valencia.
~ Valencia has been know as the City of Bell Towers because they had 100 churches and 30 monasteries.
~Valencia became the capitol during the civil war and when the new dictator won, he decided Valencia would not get economic help so they fell on hard times. During this times, they had some devastating floods, during the mid 20th century, terrible floods that destroyed 80% of the city. During the 1990s, Ford built a factory to build Fiestas here which jump started their economy again. Since, they have been steadily growing and becoming a bigger part of the national economy.

~Valencia is known for their oranges. Valencia oranges are prized as the only variety of orange in season during summer.
Valencia oranges are sweet, tangy and full of juice.
~Valencia has one of he largest aquariums in the world. Too bad we are only here for a day. That would have been fun to explore.
~The bat here in Valencia is the mascot because there is a legend about how the bat saved the king. The legend goes like this. The king was on the wall and an archer shot an arrow at the king and a tiny bat who was eating bugs around the wall flew in front of the King and took the arrow instead of the King. So the bat became their mascot.
The bat is even on their Football Jersey.

Our first stop was the platform of the convention center. The convention center holds 6000 people. The interactive science museum with three floors of hands on exhibits. The opera house. The garden with a covering that is meant to look like a whales ribs. The parking garage could hold 900 cars and 20 busses.
We couldn’t take pictures at the cave
🤔
The cave was amazing!!! We started our tour in a boat as we entered the cave. Our guide didn’t speak any English so I do not have any information regarding the history or facts about the cave?
😭 However they had the cave lit just a little and had some classical music playing the ambiance was amazing and the formations were beautiful. We got a little wet from some of the slagtites hanging down. At one point, you got to get out of the boat and walk for a little while we got to snap a couple pictures on the path. We met back up with the water and got back in the boat to return to the exit (entrance).

Our next stop was the central market. Holy fish batman! Aisles and aisles of seafood. They had all kinds of meat, cheeses, olives, fruits, you name it they had it. Our tour guide was NOT my favorite. She had us all but running through town not even explaining all the stops or when she did stop she did not wait for the whole group to catch up. Jeremy and I opted to leave the group and get back to the shop via the shuttle bus. Jeremy and I explored the city more and enjoyed some local food.
We got to do some shopping as well. We loved our time in Velencia. We could totally come back and spend even more time here. On the way back to the shuttle we stopped at a Gelato shop that had won the 2016 best gelato award. We can see why it was scrumptious.

We got back on the ship around 3 and had hours to just relax. Jeremy and I enjoyed a movie and playing games on our balcony what a beautiful relaxing afternoon. It was fun to get all dressed up and head to another formal night. After dinner we all headed outside to get pictures. It was a bit windy and my hair was blowing all over and Jeremy kept trying to fix it and couldn't. Ha!
Tonight's show was my favorite. It was pirates! It was awesome from start to finish. After the show We headed to our spot on the ship for drinks and games when midnight rolled around we called it a night and went to bed.
