Day 8 Anniversary Trip Marseille, France

Day 8 Marseille, France
Because we didn’t arrive in Marielle until 1 pm we got to sleep in. We finally woke up at 9am. Sweet! We met the Ambrus’s for breakfast 9:30am and got to play a few games before our ship ported.
We didn’t have an excursion today so we took the ships shuttle into downtown
Marseille. We wanted to take a ferry boat ride out to the prison of the Count of Monte Cristo. The next ferry was on about 45 min so we opted to get some food. Jeremy saw the McDonald’s and said hey McDonalds has a free bathroom. So we decided to eat at McDonald’s. Jeremy went to find the bathroom this was the first McDonald’s we have been too that didn’t have a bathroom! Boo.
The ferry ride was about 20 min. You hike up a little hill with several steps to get to the top of the hill.
Some fun facts about the prison and the story of Monte Cristo.
In 1580 the fortress became a prison.

In February Dante’s alias the Count of Monte Cristo, is in Italy he is 42 years old from the 21 st -may 27 September he is on Paris in October he is in Rome
The epilogue takes place in the island of Monte Cristo on 5 October
The prison was so interesting and I just loved exploring all the rooms we got to climb up two towers. It really was fascinating. And the view of city up there was breath taking. There were wild flowers growing all over the grounds. At the top of two of the towers, you could stand in the center and talk to hear yourself in stereo.
We had purchased tickets to go see the island of Frioul but we only had two hours until we had to be back to the shuttle that would take us back to our ship so we opted to ride he ferry back to town and eat some crepes and Gelato.
Rachel found the best crepe place and we sat down enjoyed the view and ate crepes. Rachel had a butter Carmel that was delicious! Jeremy had a Nutella &coconut, and Tina had a Nutella, Banana, and strawberries. Les, doesn’t like crepes so he held out for Gelato.
We got back to our shuttle an hour before we were suppose to be there and the line was out of control it wrapped around the building. The ship only had one bus and needed 5. We waited 45 min to board our bus. We got back to the ship 30 minutes late and had to run to dinner.
It was bitter sweet saying goodbye to our waiter Ryan. Man, back to reality of having to make my own dinner. 😂
We headed to our room to start packing and went out on the balcony and saw the prettiest sunset. It was like our going away present to cherish! Beautiful!
The show on the ship tonight was a tribute to Michael Jackson. This was probably Jeremy’s favorite show.
We finished packing our room up. So sad to be leaving this amazing week with the love of my life and The Ambrus’s
After we packed our rooms up we hit our favorite spot on the cruise and played some games until 1am.
Perfect last night!
