Kufurstliches Palais & Gardens

The Kurfurstiches Palais (palace of the electors)  was home to the Archbishop-Electors of the Holy Roman Empire. It's considered to be one of the most beautiful rococo buildings in the world. The construction started in 1615 Lothar von Metternich
built the north and east wings.  Philipp Christoph von Soetern built the west and south wings.
 The Palais was finally finished by Carl Caspar von der Leyen in 1756.
The Palais is currently operating as a government office.

Look at all this detail.  Wow!

White Rococo statues are all over the grounds.   

I love the gardens around the Palais.

Kaiserthermen- Imperial Roman Baths in Trier

Over 1600 years ago, the Romans built this ginormous bathing facility in Trier Germany.
It's one of the most beautiful, and grandest baths in the World.   

Come  back in time with us as we explore and learn about Kaiserthermen- Imperial Roman Baths.

 The kids are in one of the Roman baths.
The wall behind them is the Medieval City Wall. 

The Cold Baths wing.
The kids found it very interesting that people bathed 'naked' out in the open and often times with the other sex.
When the Romans visited the baths they first cleansed their skin with oil,
they had several baths all at different temperatures.
They would get massages, have hair removed and end with a steam bath. 

The Hot Bath Wing.
This bath had underfloor heating. There were several furnaces that heated this pool.
the desired bathing temperature was 40 degrees Celsius which is 104 degrees Fahrenheit
This Bath was huge.  We read somewhere that
The Hot water bath was large enough for a stage, orchestra, and 650 seats. Wow!

The Labyrinth
AKA- The underground service tunnels.
Can you imagine the amount of maintenance needed for this bathing area?
We had a lot of fun down in the tunnels.  There were so many to go down and so much to look at.

Because there are so many tunnels they had arrows
all over helping you navigate your way through.  Very cool!
I'm glad someone wasn't going behind us and changing all the arrows. :-)

I love This Chandelier! The Dinning out was held at the Armstrong Club on Vogelweh.
The entire room was filled with flags.  It was beautiful.

Marla, is the FRG President and her Husband works with Jeremy.
They sat at our table.  It was fun to get to know the more.

Jeremy won a  Dinner to a local Restaurant.  

Flag Ceremony 

There is something cool about Military Ceremonys.
So much pride and care. I love watching them. 

The POW, MIA Remembrance Ceremony.
I get choked up each time I see this special Ceremony.

The table is set for one-Symbolizing the fraility of one prisoner alone.
Tablecloth is white-the purity of their intentions 

A slice of Lemon is on the bread plate to remnd us of their bitter fate.

The Single Red Rose displayed in a vase reminds us of
 the families and loved ones of our comrades-in-arms.

The Salt upon the bread plate symbolic of the families tears as they wait.  

The Glass is inverted- They cannot toast with us this night. 

The candle is lit-symbolizing the upward reach of their unconquerale spirit. 

The chair is empty. They are not here.

We ended the night with a couple dances, and visiting with our friends.
