Our Baby is "8"

Chandler's Table.  

It's very difficult to find anything to decorate your kids birthday in Korea.  I went to several different stores trying to find a Happy Birthday sign.  Something fun to put on his door.  Alas, nothing.  Good thing we have a creative Mother.  That my friends is Angry Bird Napkins.  Yes, indeed it is.  I wrote loving affirmations on each one.  Jer and I hung them up.  Jer of course did the cute crepe paper around the door.  Oh Korea you give me so many Challenges.  

Pintrest oh how I love thee.  I saw this idea on pintrest and thought Chandler would love this.  And since it was his "8" Birthday I thought putting up 8 balloons each with 1dollar  inside would be something super fun and hopefully memorable for Chandler.  I think everyone loved running through the hall.  The kids made up all kinds of different games dodging the balloons etc..

Chandler is my chocolate boy.  Whenever I ask what he wants it's 100% chocolate.  So When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted it was Chocolate, Chocolate.  So I made a chocolate cake with Chocolate moose in the middle and home made chocolate butter cream icing.  YUMMY!!!!

Chandler with his 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Vargas.  I really love that our family has come up with alternative treats to take into school.  I really hate the cupcake idea.  trying to balance 24-30 cupcakes No thank you.  Not to mention do children really need to eat 24-30 cupcakes a year???  I don't think so... This year Chandler got to choose a special cookie to take.  He chose a Chocolate cookie with a rolo in the middle. Yummy!!!  Chandler enjoyed making these cookies with Daddy.  So much fun!

Chandler, getting a big hug from his class.  I love that he feels so special.  I love that he feels important.  Because, Chandler you are loved and you are important.  We are so happy and blessed to have you in our family.  You add so much fun.  Your character shines through with whomever you are with.  You are a friend to many. Your facial expressions just crack me up.  Chandler we love you so much.  You truly are one awesome boy!!!

Chandler's breakfast request was Sausage and Biscuits.  I love that Daddy cooks this breakfast.

Presents are the best part of the night.  We have a tradition at our house,  we do not open presents until after dinner.  This helps it stay our birthday all day long.  If you wake up and hurry and open presents it's like the excitement is over or at least the anticipation.  But if opening presents is the last thing you do on your birthday you have that anticipation and excitement all day.  Well, that's our philosophy.

Chandler did get one present first thing this morning.  He got  a note taped to his booster seat.  He is now 8 and doesn't need his booster any longer.  Another big thing happened.  Chandler is now on the Family Economy.   Wow! this "8th" birthday is pretty big.  No booster seat, a member of the Family Economy, and Chandler gets to be baptized.  AWESOME!!!!!

All Chandler wanted for his Birthday was Lego's and Skylander Giants.  Yeah for some fun games.

Holy cow my baby boy is "8".  I can't believe Chandler has hit another huge milestone.  Happy Birthday Buddy.  We love you so much.  

Kayden's end of year Concert/Drama Program

Kayden still loves playing his Trumpet. This is his 3rd year playing trumpet.

Kayden, finished with his 7th Grade Concert.  Kayden, was also asked to be in Jazz band.  He is only 1 of 2 trumpet players in Jazz band.  Fun!

Kayden had to memorize and recite a Monologue.  His Monologue was Trash Picker.

Kayden is so animated and did a wonderful job with his Monologue.  He was fabulous!!  I think we will see some cool things from him in the near future.

Easter Fun

Celebrating Holidays/ Traditions in Korea is becoming a bit of a challenge.  We usually have a huge Easter Egg hunt with our friends and then a fun potluck dinner after.  Well, there is no where on post or off for that matter to have a fun Easter Egg hunt.  So we opted to go to MWR Eggstravaganza.  We had some friends moving onpost that weekend so we too the kids for them.  We did have a great time.

This year I tried a new technique that everyone kind of tried.  We tied rubber bands over the eggs then dyed them.  It turned out very cute!!!

 

Chandler and Jeremy both dropped their eggs.  So they are making pouty faces.  Aweeee!

Now what on earth are we going to do with all these eggs???

It was really hard coming up with a place to put the kids baskets.  So Jeremy and I designed a treasure hunt.  It was awesome.  We thought it was going to be soo easy but we were really tricky.  The kids had a great time until egg #6  Chandler was about in tears and just wanted his basket.  So we had to help them a little bit. Brooklyn was really good at solving the riddle while Chandler was really good and finding the eggs. Kayden was just along for the ride.   Alas, they finally found their baskets downstairs in the storage room.

Seoul Zoo

The first day of Spring Break, Jeremy was at some training for the week and Kayden was at a youth conference.  I thought it would be fun to get a group of people together and go to the Seoul Zoo.  So we ventured 1 1/2 hours to the Zoo.

The first animals we saw at the zoo were some Dogs.  Yep, they have dogs at the Zoo.

 

I love sea lions.  This show was very interesting.  It was completely in Korean.  So we couldn't understand any of the jokes or anything he was telling the Sea lion to do.  But the Sea lion was still pretty funny. 

 

This Bear was really cute.  He/She was very playful.

Have you ever seen a white peacock before? IT was very fascination.  Amazing, graceful. We were totally in their element.  It was a special exhibit that you entered.

This picture is pretty cute.  The Llama was saying Hi to Brooklyn and little Austin on the ground.  Fun!!!  Luckily no one was spit upon.  Yeah!!!

This was one of the ways to get to the top of the mountain.  The entire zoo is on a mountain.  The kids loved riding the sky ride.  The Red one takes you to the top of the mountain.  We had just come down the mountain, So we decided to ride the blue one down to our car.  The kids requested to ride alone.  The guys let them ride all by themselves.  They look pretty happy!!!
