The Bastian's have been training to run a 5K together. We have been training for about 6 weeks. I had a huge Reactive Arthritis flare up and Dr.Bryd my Rheumatoid Doctor told me I was not allowed to run any more. I was heart broken.
We had to find something else to do together that would not hurt my joints. We decided we would all get bikes and go on bike rides. What a great idea we have had so much fun together as a family. and best of all we can do it together and it will not hurt my joints. Yeah!
Last Saturday we signed up to ride in the "Bike for Shoes Charity" Each child pays an entrance fee of $15.00 All proceeds go to support a local community outreach whereby underprivileged children of the Wenatchee Valley are given a new pair of shoes. How cool is that? It wasn't a race but it was a fun family activity and we were able to help 3 kids get 3 new pairs of shoes. Very cool. They had a safety inspection before we took off on our adventure. They had 5 stops along the 10+ mile trail filled with goodies. The first stop was the "Beach", they gave us Popsicle, and goldfish. The second stop was the "Arctic", they had frozen gogurts, the third stop was The "desert" they had bagels and cream cheese, The fourth stop was the "Rain forest". They had animal crackers and M&M's. The final stop was the "Farm" where they had the best apples. YUMMY. I love Wenatchee apples they are so crisp, sweet and juicy. We all crossed the finished line and all got a medallion. Awesome Job everyone!!!!
